Teacher feedback

Hello group 13
Your blog is coming along nicely now - I particularly like the photos and analysis of the little bits of test filming you've done.  We look forward to reading all about how the filming process is going - and to see photos of what you are up to when you are out filming.

Monday, 24 October 2011

We decided to search the college for a white background and see how that looked. When it came to the editing it just was not working as the wall was not very white ! However we decided to use this as our test shot.

As the day came to start filming we decided to use the green screen in the media room but we found it hard to get the lighting correct and the shadows in the right place Rebecca came in to try and help but it was still not working and we thought this was not the right place.

Request for Permission

After we realised that the white wall base track was not going to work we decided to change the setting to a more urban location. The Dalston Eastern Curve garden was where we had set our sights. I requested permission so that we could go and film the next day.

Explanation for Missing Blogs

There was two blogs on the checklist that it looks like I haven't done and the reason for that is because I already did the clearance letter in the summer time and even posted the reply on the blog so that explains that blog. And the other thing is that our song hasn't got a music video so I can't do that blog entry about the analysis of the original music video, so this blog should explain why I have two missing blogs. The song is an album track and doesn't have a video. Youtube:

Inspirational Songs

Lil Wayne - Drop the world is a music video full of slow motion usage, especially when the group of boys rush onto the scene, for instance at 1:08. This video gives me ideas for our own music video and where slow motion would look good if we do use it.

PLANNING: Potential Locations

For each scenes we have planned our locations so that we can get to filming straight away without deciding on the day. Our locations do not need permission, so we can just go.

This park is within walking distance from our college, we think it is the perfect location because we can film during class hours, which will also be when there are less people in the park. it is where we are going to film a base track with our main artist singing.

The 'house party' scene is going to take place  Ivets house, but we will be filming the majority of the scene in the hallway of her house, and the stairs just outside of her house. We will have teenagers running out of the house as if someone's parent has come home and they need to get out as soon as possible.

One of the base tracks we are going to film in college with the use of a black curtain, we are going to have a variety of shots and angles in this base track to reflect the lyrics of the song and the conventions of a music video, for example close ups.

PLANNING: Lyrics

It is important for us to learn the lyrics to the song so that we can lipsync well.We have printed the lyrics and written down exactly what we plan to have on each line, which helped with the story board and will help us with filming just in case we forget what we need for each part.

We have also decided to cut the song to 2.XX so that the song is not too long and repetitive, this will mean that we can have a more interesting, less repetitive video. Here are the lyrics:

Step back a minute, aint payin no parkin ticket
You won't like me when I'm angry now I'm close to livid
I found it by myself so I don't need no back seat drivers
Taxi driver get out of my face or feel the spat saliva

They had me trapped like a rabbit in the headlights
Good to know you, it's over
I think their mad cause they were never put to bed right
No attention from their mothers at all
And they never ever felt so small
And now I need to feel so tall
Take me to the edge of the world

Freedom fighters, new horizons
Freedom fighters, new horizons
Freedom fighters, new horizons
Free, now I can see the sea

Freedom fighters, new horizons
Freedom fighters, new horizons
Freedom fighters, new horizons
Free, now I can see the sea

No I don't want to leave
Now I can see the sea
No I don't want to leave
Now I can see the sea
This is the best place right now,
No I don't want to leave
No need to fight now
Now I can see the sea

This is the best place right now,
No I don't want to leave
No need to fight now
Now I can see the sea

They had me trapped like a rabbit in the headlights
Good to know you, it's over
I think their mad cause they were never put to bed right
No attention from their mothers at all
And they never ever felt so small
And now I need to feel so tall
Take me to the edge of the world

Freedom fighters, new horizons
Freedom fighters, new horizons
Freedom fighters, new horizons
Free, now I can see the sea
